Responsibilities:
The Memory Care Director is dedicated to providing the highest quality of care in a loving and safe environment for all of our residents, while helping each of them to achieve their maximum potential.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1) Plan, schedule, monitor and facilitate a daily calendar of programs to include social, educational, and physical activities.
2) Assist the resident and family in adjusting to a new environment and routine by communicating schedules, reporting on participation, and distributing program calendar.
3) Work with the Personal Care Assistants and other appropriate staff in gaining feedback and generating new ideas.
4) Cooperate with Director of Wellness in communicating healthcare needs as they arise.
5) Initiate family educational and social meetings to allow for time to release caregiver stress.
6) Develop and maintain a current community resource library as additional education for families.
7) Attend dementia training programs and implement ideas from these trainings into the program.
8) Facilitate staff training related to dementia care.
9) Actively participate in leading a discussion and training for all new staff during employee orientation.
10) Provide on-going training to all staff assigned to the New Day program.
11) Cooperate with the Food Service Department in monitoring the inventory, expiration dates, and cleanliness of the New Day Kitchen.
12) Cooperate with the Marketing Department in assisting in leasing new apartments and selling the program to interested families.
13) Participate in the Manager on Duty Program.
14) Attend all interdepartmental meetings and in-services as required.
15) Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
1) At least (1) year management experience in dementia care.
2) One (1) year supervisory and management experience including hiring staff, coaching, performance management daily operations supervision, discipline and counseling required.
3) Ability to handle multiple priorities.
4) Ability to delegate assignments to the appropriate individuals based on their skills, roles, and interests.
5) Competent in organizational, time management skills.
6) Proficiency in computer skills, Microsoft Office (Windows, Outlook, and Excel) with the ability to learn new applications.
7) Must have compassion and empathy for seniors and desire to work with seniors.
8) Ability to utilize and apply basic management principles 9) Self-directed, demonstrating initiative and follow-through 10) Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
11) Must have the ability to read, write and follow written direction in the English language.
12) Ability to timely and effectively follow up on all necessary requests from residents and families.
13) Maintain and encourage a positive work atmosphere by communicating in a manner that fosters cooperation.
14) Ability to handle stressful situations and work well under pressure.
15) Ability to recognize and communicate problems with Executive Director/Wellness Manager.
