Patient Financial Services Manager (15690-394)

Experience:
Previous office management and accounts receivable experience with supervisory responsibilities.
Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
In-depth knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and commercial billing, reimbursement and payer medical necessity requirements.
Understanding of complex reimbursement systems, including APDRGs, DRGs, APC, OPPS, etc.
Aptitude for detailed work.
Ability to resolve complex problems and share knowledge with staff.
High level of various billing and reimbursement computer systems.
Position Summary:
The primary purpose of this position is to direct and coordinate the duties of the Patient Accounts employees. Manage the day-to-day operations of Patient Financial Services. Ensures billing functions are performed to payer specification and regulations. Manages and provides oversight of cashier duties, including: correct reimbursement, electronic remits, manual posting, and balancing and maintenance documents management. Supervise billing and appeal processes. Embodies the Memorial Health System Performance Excellence Standards of Safety, Courtesy, Quality, and Efficiency that support our mission, vision and values.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Professionally and courteously interact with the patients, general public, physicians, hospital personnel and payers. Supports facilities GPE activities.
Ensures PFS processes are meeting organizational objectives.
Ensures payer requirements are met, including logs, remittance posting, reports, applications, notifications, etc.
Provides leadership and day-to-day direction to PFS staff.

Assists in the development of PFS policy and procedures.
Ensures new employees are properly oriented to Hospital and department.
Assists in identifying staff educational needs and training programs development.


Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
